When it comes to couples therapy, the main approach I use is the Gottman Method. However, frequently, it is oportune to bring techniques from different modalities, complementing the core Gottman approach. Thus, I make use of techniques from schema therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy or classic Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Regarding individual therapy, I use a person centred approach, trans-diagnostic models (models that are not focused on the specifics of certain mental health conditions), which allow the creation of a personally crafted intervention, and not one that imposes a treatment plan as based on the psychological condition (known as the medical model). A psychological condition is often just the tip of the iceberg, or the outcome, of underlying difficulties or unmet needs. The trans-diagnostic models allow interventions at the level of unmet needs, which then are reflected in the reduction of the intensity of the symptoms in specific psychological conditions.
In my clinical work, I have worked with people suffering from personality disorders, PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders. As well, I have experience in working with neuro-diverse people and couples, crafting my intervention on the specifics of different neurodevelopment conditions, like ASD, ADHD, or other unspecified neurodevelopment condition.
I work both with couples and individuals. In my work as couples therapist, I work with heterosexual couples, as well as with LGBTQIA+ couples.
