About
My approach to relationship therapy integrates the Gottman Method with many years of trauma‑informed, relational practice. People often come to me when they feel stuck in conflict, distant from one another, or unsure how to repair after repeated hurts. I offer a calm, steady presence that helps partners feel grounded, while also being clear and honest about the patterns that keep them looping.
Gottman principles shape the structure of our work: strengthening friendship, improving communication, deepening emotional connection, and transforming conflict through skills such as gentle start‑up, repair, accepting influence, and building shared meaning. I help partners notice the emotional and physiological processes driving their interactions—flooding, withdrawal, criticism, defensiveness, or missed bids for connection—and support them in developing more attuned, regulated, and supportive ways of relating.
I also integrate IFIO (Intimacy From the Inside Out), an IFS‑based approach to relationship therapy that helps people understand their internal parts while staying connected to each other. IFIO supports partners in recognising protective patterns, softening reactivity, and accessing more open, compassionate states so they can communicate with greater clarity and care. This complements Gottman work by helping each person stay emotionally available during difficult conversations.
My wider training in EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, IFS, and Gestalt supports relationships where trauma, attachment wounds, or nervous‑system activation affect connection. The name of my practice—The I–Thou—reflects my belief that healing happens through authentic, mutual presence. I aim to create a space where all partners feel seen, valued, and understood, and to help relationships move from disconnection toward trust, friendship, and a more secure, resilient bond.
