It’s never too late to start your emotional healing journey. There is a lot of stigma around mental health concerns in the South Asian community. For generations, we have pursued financial security and neglected mental and emotional safety. Given the historical events the South Asian sub-continent has experienced in the past 150 years, a lot of inter-generational trauma has been passed down among our families. Through observational learning and witnessing dysfunctional relationships, we learn unhealthy patterns of relating to self and others.
First of all, I’d like to commend you for taking the brave step of exploring therapy for yourself or a loved one. Therapy is an act of self-care and I’m happy to see that there’s a part of you that’s fighting for your better mental health. I follow a structured & customized approach to therapy to help you get the best out of it. After a thorough assessment of a client’s current problems and past history, I choose which modality or combination of modalities to utilise in their treatment plan. I offer to brainstorm with clients on goal-setting and also provide optional between-sessions homework assignments.
In my work with individuals, I employ knowledge of the following therapeutic modalities: Individual Differences and Personality Typology, Attachment Focussed Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Family Systems Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
In my work with couples, I employ knowledge of and training in the Level 2 Gottman’s Therapy System along with the aforementioned modalities as with individuals.
My expertise lies in dealing with the following mental health concerns: Depression, Anxiety, Mood Swings, Mood Instability, Chronic Indecisiveness, Identity Confusion and Identity Crisis, Third Culture Problems, Low Self Esteem, Childhood Trauma, PTSD, Relationship Difficulties, Family Trauma, Intergenerational Trauma, Abandonment Trauma, Self Sabotage, Marital Difficulties, Adjustment Issues etc. among others.
