About

Hi, I'm Alex Antonucci, the Owner and CEO of Waxwing Wellness. I've been practicing in mental health for over a decade and have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of couples and individuals, and dozens of families. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Gottman Therapist (CGT), and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). My mission is to help others live a fully engaged life by knowing themselves deeply and tending to their most important relationships. I live in Pittsburgh with my lovely wife and two incredible kids. When I’m not in the therapy room, I spend my time gardening, tending to the chickens, exploring astrophysics, birding, and running ultramarathons.

As the founder of Waxwing Wellness, I help clients understand themselves deeply within their own life context, emotions, and relationships. I believe people think, feel, and act for valid reasons. Once we understand those reasons, we have choice in our lives and the possibility of peace. I do my clinical work with both virtually and in person, in regular and intensive formats. I also facilitate Gottman Method Art and Science of Love workshops for couples.​

As an Approved Clinical Supervisor, I find great pleasure in teaching and supporting other mental health clinicians. This allows me to have a greater and longer-lasting impact in this world, which matters to me. I’ve provided supervision, consultation, and education to thousands of clinicians, supporting them in their own personal and professional development.

I believe healing happens not only individually, but within our communities. That’s why I donate 1% of my practice’s proceeds to Tree Pittsburgh, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and expanding our urban forest.
