My approach to couples counseling is practical, evidence-based, and designed to help you repair and deepen your relationship.
Perhaps like you, I'd been to several different couples counselors. When I sat on the other side of the "couch," I found that while my counselors were very nice, the therapy wasn't particularly helpful. It seemed I always ended up in the same place with the same problems!
My aim is to (politely) interrupt the cycles that lead you both down rabbit holes, to offer you common-sense alternatives, and to guide you confidently as you try new skills.
Not every counselor is thoroughly trained to work with couples-- couples counseling is very different than individual therapy. I have found that since implementing Gottman Method Couples Counseling, my couples get better faster, graduating from counseling as happier, healthier couples.
I especially love working with couples who are struggling with infertility, pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or infant death. Grieving as a couple can be challenging when trauma prevents you from turning towards each other for comfort. Helping couples to understand their grief together is a powerful way of finding a "New Normal." Even after the most painful loss of your life, you can deepen your connection, strengthen your friendship, and find comfort in your relationship.
