About
I help couples overcome conflict to create strong and harmonious relationships. Using The Gottman Method, couples can learn stop being at war with each other. What were once heart-breaking conversations the couple did not know how to fix, turn into dialogue around making the relationship better, repairing old hurts, and deepening emotional connection. Whether the conflict stems from poor communication and emotional distance, to trauma, affairs, infertility, or substance use problems, the evidence based treatments can help couples communicate openly and find solutions, or decide it is time to move on.
I have been in practice since 2010. I am the host of Relationship Psych- The Podcast. I am a contributing author to the book “Counselling Insights: Practical Strategies for Helping Others with Anxiety, Trauma, Grief, and More”. I have publications related to parenting capacity, and addiction. I have facilitated 150+ professional presentations on topics such as: couples conflict, attachment in families, anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, and more.
Couples Counselling
Specialized assessment of each couples’ strengths and weaknesses is the cornerstone of fine tuning treatment to meet the unique needs of each relationship.
Tools like card decks, blue prints, and check lists take pressure off the couple to just “fix” the problem, giving a step-by-step guide to work towards solutions. There are tailored tools for different needs in the relationship. Whether the goal is resolving a fight the couple has repeatedly, or wanting to become better friends, there are unique and fine-tuned interventions to help.
Individual Counselling
I help individuals experiencing difficulty with mental health problems, relationship issues, the impact of trauma, or recovering from addiction. Evidence based practice is the foundation of my practice, relying on techniques primarily from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
