None of us will fully rid life of pain, misunderstanding, or conflict. However, you can start organizing your life around fulfilling relationships and living your values.

When experience has taught you that other people are indifferent, hostile, or unable to understand, you might mask, develop fast and certain judgments about others, or lose sight of a person's intentions. Rebuilding the bridge requires the capacity to understand our own and other people's behavior from the inside out and the outside in. That capacity is called mentalizing, and it comes from Attachment Theory, Object Relations Theory, and Developmental Psych.

I trained in Mentalization-Based Treatment with Anthony Bateman MA, FRCPsych through the Anna Freud Centre in London, in ACT with Steven Hayes, and in The Gottman Method (Level 3) for couples therapy. MBT is an evidence-based treatment for BPD, now being adapted for PTSD and attachment-related difficulties, and still a rare specialty in the United States.
