The people I work with aren't lacking in love. They just struggle to reach one another through the hurt, defensiveness and misunderstandings that have developed between them.
One partner may push for a conversation while the other withdraws. Attempts to be heard may sound like criticism, while attempts to prevent further conflict may feel like rejection. Over time, both partners can begin to feel alone within the relationship. I help couples slow these patterns down, understand what lies beneath them and speak more honestly about what they need. Our work focuses on managing conflict with greater care, rebuilding trust and friendship and creating the conditions in which warmth and intimacy can return. Conflict in relationships is inevitable.
