About
Relationships can become stuck in patterns that neither partner knows how to change - recurring conflict, feeling misunderstood or disconnected, difficulty communicating, or gradually losing the sense of being a team.
I am an Australian registered Psychologist with over 14 years of clinical experience, providing Gottman Method Couples Therapy. My background in clinical psychology and cognitive neuroscience shapes the way I work: I want to understand what is actually driving a couple's difficulties, not just teach communication techniques. The Gottman Method provides a rigorous framework for identifying patterns that maintain distress and translating that understanding into practical change.
A significant part of my clinical work has been devoted to Autism and ADHD, giving me particular expertise in working with neurodiverse and mixed-neurotype couples. Differences in communication, emotional processing, sensory experience, executive functioning and expectations can profoundly shape the relationship - and can easily be mistaken for lack of care, effort or commitment.
My work is neuroaffirming. I do not approach neurological differences as deficits to be corrected, nor do I expect one partner to communicate, regulate or relate more like the other. Instead, we work to understand each person accurately, identify where genuine differences and relationship patterns are creating difficulty, and find ways of relating that respect both partners.
The same depth of understanding guides my work with every couple. Therapy is about making sense of the patterns that have developed between two people, understanding what each person brings to these patterns, and creating meaningful change while preserving the individuality of both partners. My aim is not simply to help couples better communicate, but to help them better understand one another - and use that understanding to build a stronger relationship.
