About

Conflicts in a marriage are rarely about the issues, but instead how couples talk about the issues.

In my couples counseling sessions, partners communicate face-to-face, openly and honestly about their issues. Throughout the conversation we will identify and prevent flashpoints that create conflict escalation. I will give feedback and provide direction for the most effective way to communicate in a given situation. The feedback encourages respectful and mutually compassionate interactions, and helps dispel miscommunications that cause marital tensions. Small steps soon become major strides as couples progress from confrontation and impasse toward resolution of their differences.

The underlying goals of our sessions are to:

• Increase the pleasure of spending time with your partner
• Heighten or reestablish emotional intimacy
• Help rediscover happiness in your relationship

Over the years, Relationship Resources has helped hundreds of married and unmarried couples undo rigid and negative patterns of behavior and transform their relationships to newfound levels of happiness and enjoyment.

Dr. Richard Rein, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist, certified Gottman method couples therapist and marriage counseling expert. For three decades, I have utilized an evidence-based approach for improving relationships. I focus my efforts on the detection of repetitive patterns that create unresolved problems in relationships, as outlined in my book, The Divorce Prevention Handbook: A Practical Guide for Saving Marriages. My approach is based on the science of communication, and has been shared with hundreds of couples and taught to many couples’ therapists.

What differentiates Relationship Resources from other private practices is its emphasis on the detection of intricate subtleties that create communication setbacks. This highly effective approach has been very successful in improving and saving troubled relationships.
