About
No close relationship is perfect and healthy communication is a challenge at the best of times. When a relationship faces difficulties brought about by individual change or by an impactful, reshaping force like parenthood, communication can break down altogether. When change negotiation and communication starts to become too difficult to manage on your own, couples therapy with a trained and objective professional can offer the solution you need. Whether you are seeking to enhance your relationship, resolve specific issues, decrease conflict, improve trust and communication, or find an alternative to separation, couples therapy can provide you and your partner with the safe and understanding space that you need to grow and improve as a couple.
Couples therapy differs from individual therapy in that the relationship, rather than the individual, is “the client”. I work closely with couples to identify and improve problematic dynamics within the relationship and build on the strengths that brought the couple together in the first place. Gottman Method Couples Therapy provides powerful evidence based tools to help couples to de-escalate conflict, avoid key destructive forms of communication and build fondness, admiration and trust. In my work with couples and at my group practice, it is our key mission to provide an environment of neutrality, respect, and warmth where couples can feel safe to develop the insights they need to change and grow as individuals and partners.
