Hello! My name is Dr. Felicia Berry-Mitchell and I am a licensed psychologist in Georgia. I am originally from California but have lived in Georgia most of my life. I am married and a proud mother of three children, ages 28, 27, and 14. My husband and I have been married for 15 years. Blending our family was not always easy but as time passed, we've all put the work in that has allowed the relationships to grow. Blending our families did not just happen with my husband and my children but also with my older children’s father and his family.
I am passionate about helping others and using my gifts and experience to be a partner in my clients’ recovery process. I employ wholistic methods and incorporate the mind, body, and spirit in my work with clients. I am direct, yet warm, and often use humor in therapy. I enjoy what I do and aim to create a safe environment for healing that allows my clients to enjoy the therapeutic process as well.
I received my doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 2008 and my Master's in Professional Counseling in 2003 from Georgia State University. My areas of concentration are trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance abuse, couples therapy, affair recovery, anxiety, and depression. I have received extensive training in these areas using evidenced-based treatments. I have invested in using evidenced-based therapies because I want to offer the most effective treatments to address my client's needs. I was drawn to the Gottman Method due to its decades of research that has provided great insight into increasing relationship effectiveness.
My goal is to become a certified Gottman therapist and couple my expertise in trauma therapies with relationship effectiveness to assist those who have had a partner experience a traumatic event recover more effectively; as well as the betrayed partner in cases of an affair, as they often experience symptioms like those of PTSD.
I look forward to working with you on your recovery journey.
