It’s not only about the porn, gambling, anger outbursts, or drinking. It’s about what happens between you because of it.
I work with couples when a behavior one person is struggling with has begun affecting trust, intimacy, communication, or the sense that you’re on the same team. Together, we look at both the behavior itself and the relationship patterns that have formed around it.
Maybe one of you keeps asking, “Why do you keep doing this?” while the other is quietly wondering the same thing. You may love each other deeply and still not understand how you got here.
I also work individually with people struggling with compulsive behaviors, and I bring that understanding into my work with couples. I’m comfortable talking openly about porn, sexual behavior, drinking, gambling, infidelity, lying, anger, and the things people often feel ashamed to admit out loud.
Accountability matters. We won’t minimize what happened or explain away the hurt. But accountability doesn’t require deciding that one of you is bad, broken, or beyond understanding. We can take what happened seriously and also understand why it keeps happening.
Together, we look at both sides: what the behavior is doing for the individual and what it is doing to trust, intimacy, sex, and connection between you. We slow down the patterns that keep repeating, understand how you got here, and work toward something different.
I bring my Gottman Method Levels 1 & 2 training into this work to help you communicate differently, work through conflict, rebuild trust, and reconnect.
