About
When the same conversations keep ending in conflict, distance, or silence, it can be difficult to imagine how your relationship could feel different.
Perhaps trust has been damaged by betrayal. Maybe you've become more like roommates than partners. Or you love one another but remain caught in patterns of criticism, defensiveness, withdrawal, or emotional disconnection.
I'm Dr. Georgia Harrison, DSW, LCSW, an EMDR Certified therapist and Gottman Level 2 trained clinician. I specialize in helping couples address betrayal, recurring conflict, attachment injuries, and difficulties with emotional and physical intimacy.
My approach goes beyond communication skills alone.
Relationship struggles are often influenced by trauma, nervous system responses, and protective patterns developed long before the current conflict. I integrate Gottman Method Couples Therapy, EMDR, attachment-focused work, and somatic approaches to help partners understand what's happening beneath their reactions.
An important part of my work is separating the function of a behavior from its impact. We can understand why someone withdraws, becomes defensive, or struggles with vulnerability while remaining accountable for how those responses affect their partner.
Alongside ongoing couples therapy, I offer extended sessions and couples therapy intensives for partners seeking focused, in-depth work. These formats create space to explore longstanding patterns, address difficult experiences, and develop more intentional ways of relating.
My practice is private-pay and designed for couples who value personalized, thoughtful care. I frequently work with professionals, executives, military members, and veterans.
I provide virtual therapy in DC, MD, IL, FL, NC, SC, and TN, with limited in-person couples intensives available in Chattanooga, TN.
If you're ready to explore what meaningful change could look like for your relationship, I welcome you to reach out for a consultation.
