I have completed training in level III Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and use the GMCT research-based assessment tools and interventions to assist couples with conflict resolution, more caring communication, enhanced connection and emotional awareness of oneself and one’s partner in the relationship. I am also trained in Bowen Systems Theory as it applies to individuals and couples. This work emphasizes facilitating awareness of how emotional systems function through the identification of both helpful and unhelpful patterns of relating. By focusing on the self rather than other-directed change, all clients can be empowered to improve their relationships.
In working with both couples and individuals I pay close attention to the stories you might be telling yourself about yourself, your partner or significant others, and your place in the world. Some of these stories are old, unhelpful and simply not true—they sometimes come from the family you grew up in, your previous or current partner or society. We will look at these narratives to ensure they accurately reflect your current beliefs, your values, your strengths and that they add deep meaning to your relationship and your life. Ultimately it is my hope that our work together can assist you to embrace both the challenges and joys that our part of any fulfilling relationship.
I specialize in working with couples who have experienced betrayal, infidelity, conflict and emotional distance.
I also facilitate pre-marital counseling using both Gottman approches and Prepare-Enrich.
