Dr. Kimbrough is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker certified by the states of Arkansas, Georgia, and Texas. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work where she was a research assistant for Dr. Brené Brown and Dr. Ronda Dearing. Her dissertation was a grounded theory study of clinical social workers in interprofessional behavioral health teams where she developed the theory of Building, Maintaining, and Assessing Trusted Influence. She holds a Masters of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communication from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Her research interests include theory generation, intervention research, program evaluation, and leadership development.
Dr. Kimbrough has a variety of social work experience in micro and macro settings including working with foster children, college students, adults in residential recovery, women experiencing homelessness, as well as groups, couples, and families. She worked as the Assistant Director for The Daring Way from 2016 - 2019 before moving full-time into private practice and teaching as an online visiting professor for the University of Arkansas School of Social Work. Her treatment interests include trauma, grief, and relationship issues. Dr. Kimbrough is a Certified Daring Way Facilitator and Level II Gottman Facilitator. When she isn't working, she enjoys traveling and being outdoors with her golden retrievers Lily & Ellie and her husband Mark.
