Heather Shannon, LCPC helps individuals and couples build the skills to feel their best in all their relationships. Through looking at current behavior and past experiences with a lens of mindfulness and compassion, Heather helps clients understand themselves and others more effectively. Training in Gottman methods as well as sex and gender therapy allow Heather to provide essential psychoeducation that will help clients positively adjust their lens on themselves, romance, sexuality and relationships.

Heather offers a variety of holistic approaches and is able to customize her work with each client. Your work with Heather may include meditation, hypnosis, cognitive behavioral therapy, exploration of attachment styles, communication exercises, psychoeducation and Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS is an intuitive approach to working with parts of ourselves that have become activated, isolated or shunned and are working at odds with our relationship goals.

Heather is one of the least judgmental people you'll meet when it comes to exploring sex and relationships and she has a particular passion for working with those in the alt-sex community including kink-identified clients, those exploring consensual non-monogamy and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Please note, sex and relationship therapy are typically not covered by insurance.

Please visit my website to set up a free 15-min consultation to determine if it would be a good fit for us to work together!

Teletherapy is available for clients in Illinois and coaching is available for clients in other states.
