About
Do you and your partner feel stuck in painful cycles of conflict, distance, or misunderstanding?
I work with couples using the Gottman Method together with extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR, Somatic Experiencing®, and sex therapy. This trauma-informed approach helps partners recognize and change negative interaction cycles, regulate difficult emotions, repair relationship injuries, and rebuild emotional and physical intimacy.
Many couples I work with are struggling with:
• recurring conflict and communication breakdown
• emotional distance or disconnection
• rebuilding trust after betrayal or relationship injuries
• intimacy and sexual concerns
• stress affecting the relationship
Early in my U.S. career, I worked in domestic violence services, shaping my commitment to helping couples build relationships grounded in safety, respect, and mutual understanding.
I have worked in mental health since 1994 and was originally trained as a clinical psychologist in Brazil. In addition to clinical work, I teach graduate courses in trauma and play therapy and provide clinical supervision and training for therapists.
I work with couples in Raleigh and across North Carolina who want to move out of painful cycles and build stronger, more connected relationships.
Many couples come to therapy feeling discouraged after trying to fix things on their own. Therapy can help partners understand each other in new ways and begin creating different patterns of connection.
I also help couples address intimacy and sexual concerns in a respectful, collaborative way so partners can rebuild closeness and connection.
In our work together, couples learn to strengthen friendship, improve communication, and build relationships that feel emotionally safe, connected, and resilient.
