About
Dr. Jan Dunn is a "systems" trained Marriage & Family Therapist with over 25 years of experience counseling clients in the Dallas Metroplex. This means that she realizes that you do not exist in a vacuum. What you do affects others and what they do affects you.
Dr. Dunn's Ph.D. is from Texas Woman's University. She is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) for the state of Texas.
Dr. Dunn specializes in relationship & marital issues. Most emotional pain is the result of LACK of relationship (wanting a baby, significant-other, friend, etc), LOSS of relationship (a break-up, divorce, separation, death, etc), or TROUBLED relationship (arguing, fighting, infidelity, emotional distance, etc). So other areas on which to focus include conflict and anger resolution, depression, addiction, and grief/loss issues.
The Gottman methods of intervention are wonderful tools with which to help people. They help in getting to "the heart of the matter" where the best therapy occurs. Careful & thorough assessments help to pinpoint what is most specifically needed in a relationship for it to thrive.
Dr. Dunn is also an approved supervisor for both the LPC license and LMFT license & enjoys mentoring future therapists. Her office is conveniently located in the Galleria area of North Dallas.
