About

I take your commitment to each other seriously, including when you are hurt, discouraged, or unsure about staying together. My role is to help you understand how you got here and what needs to change, rather than decide whether your relationship is worth the effort.

If disagreements escalate quickly or end with one of you shutting down, I will help you slow the conversation and understand what each of you is struggling to express. If you are used to holding yourself to high standards and taking responsibility for everyone, we will examine how that plays out between you, including what happens when one partner takes on more and the other steps back.

I have a particular focus on Asian and Asian American couples, including intercultural relationships. We can address differences around obligations to parents, family involvement, and expectations of a partner. There is room to consider what matters to each of you without treating your cultural values or family ties as the problem.

After an affair or another breach of trust, we will address what happened and what rebuilding trust would require from each of you. For couples preparing for marriage, we will clarify expectations and work on how you handle differences before they become longstanding sources of conflict.

You can expect me to be involved and direct. I will interrupt familiar arguments and help each of you take responsibility for your behavior. We will agree on changes to practice between sessions and review what happens when you try them. Unless there is abuse or danger, I approach our work with hope for repair. Decisions about the future of your relationship remain yours.

I am the founder of Atlas Therapy, a boutique practice in Manhattan. I have completed Level 2 training in the Gottman Method and am also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Discernment Counseling. I see couples in-person in NoMAD and online across New York and California, including evenings and weekends.
