I am a licensed LMFT and provide couples therapy in the states of
Washington, Colorado, Idaho and Utah. I have over 15 years of experience as a marriage and family therapist. My approach to therapy includes Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Discernment Counseling and Hopeful Spouse counseling.
Emotionally Focused Therapy works toward reestablishing the emotional connection between partners. These behaviors can become habitual and rigid modes of reacting to our partner that cause pain, injury and despair. In therapy, we will work on changing these negative interactional cycles in a non-judgmental environment. Building a “safe haven” in your relationship is a primary task, and we will try to focus on your primary needs – to feel close, secure and responded to- which likely underlie most conflicts.
The Gottman Method Couples Therapy uses research based interventions to strengthen a couples’s relationship skills and deepen their connection. The goals of the Gottman Method include increasing closeness and friendship behaviors, addressing conflict productively, and building a life of shared meaning together.
Discernment Counseling for couples on the brink. If you or your spouse are considering divorce but are not completely sure that’s the best path Discernment Counseling is designed for you. The goal is for you to gain clarity and confidence about a direction, based on a deeper understanding of your relationship and its possibilities for the future.
Hopeful Spouse counseling can be appropriate for individuals whose partner or spouse is unwilling or reluctant to commit to couple therapy with them. Information is provided on what specific actions they can take without the involvement of their partner.
