Joan Hoffman, Ph. D., has specialized for over 30 years in working with couples and families. With an expertise in family relations and child development, Dr. Hoffman is a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified Professional Counselor. She has trained with masters Jay Haley, John Gottman, Julie Schwartz Gottman, Cloe Madanes, and Michael Yapko. Her work with the Drs. Gottman has spanned close to a decade, and she is a Senior Gottman Trainer. Additionally, Dr. Hoffman is a Certified Gottman Method Therapist, an ASL Couples’ Workshop Leader, and an Educator and Training Specialist for the Bringing Baby Home program. BBH is a research-based program for couples in the transition to parenthood. She has taught at the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University, and is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. In addition to her private practice Northwest of Baltimore, Dr. Hoffman has been involved with enrichment programs for parents and couples throughout her career. She considers the psychoeducational format a powerful, enriching tool for growth and change. She presents scientifically-based education, professional training and workshops to help individuals, couples, families & clinicians master the what, why’s and how’s of day-to-day relationships. She is dedicated to helping couples and families enrich their relationships and create meaningful connections. Whether the format is a classroom, a workshop or a therapy office, Dr. Hoffman’s goal is to create and deepen her own connections with others.
