About
John was the first AMHSW in Australia to become a Certified Gottman Therapist, and is also an Advanced Gottman Clinical Trainer & Consultant. This means that John (and only 28 others around the world) can provide training to other therapists in this modality as well as providing couples with world-class relationship therapy at Burleigh Heads Psychology and Relationship Clinic on the Gold Coast.
Since completing his Bachelor of Social Work in 1988 and later a Masters in Gestalt Therapy, John has had an extensive history in working with couples, as well as in organisational development and training.
John is a certified presenter for all levels of Gottman therapist training and The Art and Science of Love Couples Workshop as well as being an approved supervisor for Gottman Certification. He has completed his Cert IV in Workplace Training & Assessment and has delivered a broad range of accredited training including over 50+ Gottman Level 1 and 50+ Gottman Level 2 workshops.
John is trained to provide therapy to individuals, couples and groups in a range of therapeutic approaches including:

· Emotionally focussed therapy for couples
· Cognitive Processing Therapy
· Motivational Interviewing
· Gestalt Therapy
· Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Over the last 20 years, John has provided a range of psycho-educational group programs to Australian veterans and their families in areas such as trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety and resilience.
He has provided training to therapists and human service organisations in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, USA and New Zealand.
He is also a co-author with business partner Trish Purnell-Webb, is a regular guest on podcasts, featured articles and a professional Key Note Speaker.
