Hi. My name is Joy Ephraums and I love working with couples to help build better relationships. With over fifteen years’ experience as a couple therapist, I have seen so many difficult relationships restored. My goal is to work with you to reconnect as a couple and I have a positive and strong belief in relationship repair and change. My therapy will provide you with some structure to develop the emotional and practical skills to navigate your relationship more effectively. Although I work with all relationships, my specific interests and expertise are relationships involving anxiety, depression, affairs, spiritual issues, cross cultural issues and grief and loss.
In couple therapy, I utilise primarily The Gottman approach to couple counselling which is research based and has strong therapeutic outcomes. This will involve a period of relationship assessment followed by sessions of active intervention specific to your particular relationship. I offer a caring and compassion approach combined with some clear structure to work on your relationship challenges. For over thirty years, I have worked in a range of Government and private organisations in a variety of therapeutic roles including Mental Health, Disability, Family Issues, Relationships, Addictions and Grief/ Loss.
Based in Adelaide, I work from both a base in Southern Adelaide and also provide online therapy. Professionally, I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Family and Relationships Counsellor.
