About
Relationships can become strained when communication breaks down, the same conflicts happen repeatedly, trust is damaged, or partners simply begin to feel disconnected. I help couples understand the patterns keeping them stuck and develop practical skills to communicate more effectively, manage conflict, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional and physical intimacy.
I have extensive experience working with active-duty service members, veterans, and military families. Before entering private practice, I spent approximately seven years as an embedded clinical social worker supporting U.S. Army Special Operations units, including Special Forces and other members of the Special Operations community. I understand the unique impact that deployments, high operational tempo, trauma exposure, reintegration, and transitions out of the military can have on both the service member and their relationship.
I work with military and civilian couples experiencing communication difficulties, recurring conflict, emotional disconnection, trust or betrayal concerns, intimacy issues, parenting stress, and major life transitions. I also work with couples who are uncertain about whether they want to remain together.
My couples work is grounded in the Gottman Method, and I have completed Levels 1, 2, and 3 training. I am also trained in Discernment Counseling and Bringing Baby Home. As a Certified EMDR Therapist with extensive trauma-treatment experience, I bring a trauma-informed perspective to couples work when past or current experiences are affecting the relationship.
My style is warm, direct, and practical. Therapy is not just about discussing what went wrong during the week. We identify patterns, practice healthier ways of communicating, strengthen friendship and connection, and develop skills you can continue using outside of therapy.
