About
Many couples come into my office with feelings of frustration. You may feel misunderstood, angry, or betrayed. Or you may worry you and your partner have drifted apart. Couples often fear that if the relationship continues in its current direction there will be a point of no return, or suspect that point has already been reached. The couples I have worked with remember a time when the love felt genuine and hopeful, although those memories may feel distant.
As someone who has been married for more than twenty years and raised two children, I am familiar with the complexities that many couples encounter in their relationships over time. I also recognize that every relationship is unique. I customize my approach to your specific needs, and my aim is to foster awareness and connection between the two of you, not to take sides. I make space for both of you to be heard, and I provide an adaptive, supportive structure with direct guidance.
I value learning and staying open to different points of view. I hold a master's degree with a specialization in marriage and family therapy and am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in North Carolina. I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Counseling and Counselor Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I actively engage in research and contribute to the counseling profession through scholarly work. My work with couples is grounded in the Gottman Method, integrated with attachment-focused and emotion-focused approaches.
Counseling is a space for you to talk about any issue that impacts your relationship, from navigating parenthood and major life transitions to concerns about emotional or physical intimacy. In our sessions, we consider how you currently interact and why, exploring what can be changed and what can be accepted. For many couples, the work involved in counseling leads to healing and deeper connection.
