As a Registered Psychologist I work in private practice supporting individuals and couples. My clinical focus is adolescents, adults and older adults. I'm available at practices on the north side of Brisbane.
Building connections is a passion for me. Whether it's rebuilding or rejuvenating a marriage, deepening an intimate connection, or growing friendships, I endeavour to bring a calmness to the interactions and provide a safe place for individuals and couples to explore what they need to create a meaningful life.
In recent years much of my training has been from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) perspective. ACT training helps therapists to develop compassion, acceptance, empathy, respect, and the ability to be present and engaged with their clients. ACT teaches therapists that we’re all on a journey and none of us has it all figured out. As ACT therapist Russ Harris says:
“I don’t want you to think I’ve got my life completely in order. It’s more as if you’re climbing your mountain over there and I’m climbing my mountain over here. It’s not as if I’ve reached the top and I’m having a rest. It’s just that from where I am on my mountain, I can see obstacles on your mountain that you can’t see. So I can point those out to you, and maybe show you some alternative routes around them.”
Complementing my ACT toolkit I have studied Schema Therapy, neuropsychotherapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Mindfulness-based approaches. I’m committed to providing evidence-based psychological services. That’s therapy that is informed by science and has been shown to be effective in research studies. I love working with Gottman Method Couples Therapy. This guides my work to help couples repair and rebuild their relationships.
My clients inspire me. It's a privilege to work with people who are coping with difficult circumstances, building new skills and striving for their dreams.
I‘d love to help you with your challenges too.
