"Most people coming to counseling want straightforward answers to the problems they are facing. Being direct and proactive as a therapist; seeing couples heal from years of painful relationships, is the most rewarding part of my work". In the past few years Larry has completed Level I, Level II and Level III of John Gottman's training. Having years of experience as a marriage and family therapist, understanding and incorporating the Gottman's approach has enhanced his effectiveness with troubled marriages. Larry and his wife have four children, including two step-daughters. He has first-hand experience as to the complications and the rewards of a blended families. Working with individuals, he is skilled at treating anxiety and depressive disorders; this also applies to PTSD and OCD complications. He has worked extensively with addictions and the heartbreaking consequences of sexual addiction and infidelity. Having proudly served four years in the military, he understands the stressors of military life. His advance training includes being an approved supervisor for other mental health providers in training. He is a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

He works with people from all walks of life, world views and spiritual faiths. He approaches counseling from an "evidence based" understanding of effective treatment. And he has a Christian "faith based" integration for clients that desire a counselor with a Christian world view.

Larry has a Master’s degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from Azusa Pacific University in southern California. He is dual licensed in Virginia as a Professional Counselor and a Marriage and Family Therapist. His training in family systems and his many years of clinical and supervisory experience shapes his cognitive behavior approach to counseling. He works with individuals, families and couples.
