What to Expect from Therapy?
I am here to create a comfortable space and genuine connection with you and your partner. I am here to assess your strengths as a couple and what areas could use improvement. Together we will co-create a clear path and therapeutic goals toward resolution.
I have advanced training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and work with a Senior Certified Master Therapist through The Gottman Institute to better my work with couples. Through research-based interventions and exercises, I will help you break through barriers to achieve greater understanding, connection and intimacy. You will learn the skills necessary for a lasting and loving relationship. You will learn to respectfully communicate with your partner and effectively handle conflict. You will strengthen your friendship and build appreciation for your partner. You will experience a new way to "do relationship" as proven through over 40 years of research with over 3,000 couples by Dr. John Gottman.
First Session Together:
Our first session together will last 75 minutes. The price of our first session includes the extended time frame as well as the cost of the online Gottman Relationship Checkup Assessement. Our first session will include time to get to know each other, but will primarily focus on the hearing the history of your relationship, what brings you into therapy, and instructions for taking the Gottman Relationship Assessement online prior to coming to the next session. https://checkup.gottman.com/
Second Session Together:
Our second session together will be spent meeting with each partner individually. This gives us an opportunity to speak about each partner's perspective, family history, and anything else you find helpful for me to know about you.
Third Session Together:
By our third session, I will be ready to share the findings of your Gottman Relationship Assessment as well as arrive together at treatment goals.
Many people want to know how long and how often they "need" to come to therapy. There is no "one size fits all" program, but generally, I will meet with couples every other week after our first few sessions together and will discontinue therapy when we have met our mutually agreed upon goals.
I practice exclusively with couples, which means that all of my additional training and research is spent focused on meeting the needs of the couple. I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy with my clients, in addition to using the Gottman Relationship Checkup to access the couple's relationship. The Relationship Checkup Site is Research Based and an In-Depth analysis of your relationship.
Developed from more than 40 years of scientific research, no other approach to relationship assessment relies on such intensive, detailed, and evidence-based information of why relationships succeed or fail.
With 480 questions in 5 unique sections, our assessment not only accurately evaluates a relationship's strengths and challenges, but also provides personalized feedback.
