After obtaining a master’s degree Sport Psychology, and spending the next 19 years working in aviation, I decided I wanted a change. I knew I wanted the second half of my working life to be focused on helping people. I asked myself, “What would you do if there were no obstacles or limitations in your way?” The answer was clear. I love listening to people’s stories and understanding their experience. Counselling seemed like a perfect fit, and so a few years ago, I returned to school and obtained a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
It was in that program that I was first introduced to Gottman Couples Therapy. I love that my role as a therapist is not to solve your relationship problems, but, rather, to share with you the tools, activities, and interventions you need to be able to transform your relationship yourselves. I love that the Gottman Method is based on forty years of scientific research with real-life couples. And I love that Gottman Couples Therapy is relevant for couples in many stages of their relationships, from those who are just starting out to those who have been together for many years. Wherever you are in your relationship, the Gottman Method can be insightful, impactful, and transformational.
I completed Level 3 Practicum training in Seattle with Drs. John and Julie Gottman as the leaders. To have the final level of training delivered and demonstrated by the creators of this incredible Method was, in a word, thrilling!
I offer couples' counselling via secure video platform that complies with all Canadian privacy laws. Couples' sessions are 80 minutes in length. I also offer an extended 120 minute session, if desired.
