I approach therapy with an N=1 view of my client. In other words, each person I see is unique in their mindset, their upbringing, their values, needs, and behaviour. I take time to hear their story and retell their story back to them , so as to ensure they are heard. In couples therapy, I try to blend their individual needs together so that they both feel valued and respected, understood, and ultimately form an alliance together. I realize that no marriage is perfect, but if they can respect each other's needs, values, and virtues, then they can both have a very fulfilling and joyful life.
