About

I’m an intuitive and warm person with over 25 years experience as a therapist. I’ve worked with couples at all stages of relationship - from couples who are dating and want to shore up their relationship at an early stage to couples who have raised adult children together and whose friendship and intimacy has got lost. I’ve worked with infidelity, feeling unseen and unappreciated, persistent rows which seem to come from nowhere, cultural and broader family issues.

I studied law at university and qualified as a solicitor before doing a Masters and Advanced Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy and working one on one with clients. I’ve always been fascinated by how people are with others and aware that a lot of our happiness and unhappiness arises in this context. So I started working with couples and did a year’s training in Open Dialogue to work with families and groups. But I still needed something more concrete for couple sessions, which can so easily deteriorate into damaging slanging matches. Hence the training in Gottman therapy with its research based ways of structuring conversation to enable friendship to thrive, conflict managed and life passions realised.

Career wise, I’ve taught psychotherapy and human sexuality to trainee psychotherapists at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling. More recently I worked at the Refugee Council with female asylum seekers. Prior to this I worked at Mind, at a GP practice and at an outpatient mental health unit in the NHS.

My interests include film, poetry and cooking. Alongside my formal study, I’m guided by principles of mindfulness and Buddhist thinking in my practice.

Gottman therapy is incredibly useful in giving your relationship the best possible chance. Nevertheless I recognise that there are some couples who are working up the courage to separate and if so, I’ll honour that wish and help you do it in the healthiest possible way.
