About

When is the last time you felt really good about your relationship? Does it seem like conflicts never get resolved? Are you feeling disconnected? unseen? unheard? unappreciated? Are you feeling like roommates?

Couples therapy is the most effective way to restore and revitalize a relationship. Often the person who is feeling the most pain in the relationship is the one to call for help. Callers asks me how I can convince their partners to come in for treatment. I have been successful in reassuring reluctant partners that couples therapy is not about finding the bad guy or assigning blame. As a specialist in couples therapy who uses the Gottman Method, I can observe your interaction and help you identify the patterns of communication that are getting in the way of your intimacy. It is not my goal to find fault but rather to guide you to new solutions. By taking this approach, I have successfully gained the trust and enthusiastic cooperation of many reluctant partners.

Learning how to decrease conflict is only part of treatment. In fact, research shows that the level of conflict at the start of therapy is not a good predictor of the outcome. In addition to showing you how to resolve problems more effectively, I will give you ways to restore fondness, admiration, passion and trust. My goal is to help you build a strong, satisfying relationship that can withstand the life challenges that may come your way.
