Greetings! The focus of my practice is the treatment of couples or intimate partnerships/marriage, with particular emphasis on more difficult problems such as infidelity, challenging conflicts, and substance use problems. My training in couples is extensive, both in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and other interventions. I am a nationally recognized scholar in the area of father engagement with children, with a history of experience in adolescent treatment. I am also trained to work with individuals on problems related to depression, anxiety, addiction, and life transitions. As I am currently a member of the faculty at Texas State University in the School of Social Work, I keep limited counseling hours. From my training and experience, the primary driver of change in the therapist client relationship is empathy. Because of my own history and experiences, along with my advanced clinical skills, I am able to reduce client loneliness, promote acceptance and strengths, and work with highly effective treatment modalities providing lasting change.
