At Martin Beck Counseling, I adopt a holistic approach to psychotherapy, focusing on the entire person rather than just their symptoms. I work closely with clients to create personalized treatment plans that address their unique needs and goals. Committed to ongoing professional development, I stay up-to-date with the latest psychological research to ensure the highest quality of care. By integrating evidence-based practices with a compassionate approach, I help clients uncover their strengths, explore their emotions, and address their issues.
I am a licensed certified social worker providing psychotherapy in Kentucky and a visual artist with an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University. I obtained my Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky and completed a research internship at the College of Social Work. My clinical internship at Berea Counseling Services allowed me to refine my skills and knowledge alongside experienced professionals.
Specializing in trauma, grief, chronic pain, and attachment injuries, I employ various therapeutic approaches, including couples therapy, grounded in existential and humanist principles. My personal experiences with trauma and Ankylosing Spondylitis, an inflammatory autoimmune disease, have profoundly shaped my understanding of suffering and healing. As an artist, I have always explored the depths of the human condition through my figurative artwork. Although my arthritic condition has limited my ability to create art, my passion for creativity continues to inform my therapeutic practice.
I firmly believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Each client's journey is unique, and I tailor the therapeutic experience to meet their specific needs. This personalized approach ensures that clients receive the support and tools necessary to achieve meaningful and lasting change in their lives.
