My name is Meagan Narvaez (she/her), and I am a queer Woman of Color from a Puerto Rican family.
My role in your life is to create a safe place for you to explore what a healthy and fulfilling sex life looks like for you. Each of us is different, and we all have our own priorities and needs surrounding passion and intimacy.
As a sex therapist, my passions and specializations are within the realm of race, sexuality, gender, ethical non-monogamy, and pleasure. I wholeheartedly believe in pleasure activism – the idea that humans are not meant to live in a constant state of suffering. I use this framework as my guiding principle, encouraging clients to embrace and hold sacred what is pleasurable for them.
There are many reasons why sex can be pushed aside or deprioritized. Thanks to the shame and taboo that our society places on sexuality, doing something about it can feel overwhelming. Different health and wellness issues can impact one another and create obstacles to change, too. That’s why I am here, judgment-free, to help you build or rebuild your connection to your body, your desires, and your partner(s). (Yes, I do work with ethically non-monogamous individuals, couples, and other configurations!)
In my practice, I like to observe with curiosity. I encourage you to notice and take stock of non-verbals, such as exploring the meaning behind a deep breath or a weary sigh. I do this with the goal of strengthening the mind-body connection, and helping my clients to embody pleasure.
A note on Asexuality: I acknowledge that the language around sex therapy can often seem exclusionary of asexuality, and sometimes even pushes the idea that a lack of sexual desire is a problem to be fixed. I do not take that approach in my practice. If you identify or think you may identify as asexual or aromantic, I am here to help support you as you continue to explore and understand your identity, and find ways to navigate what intimacy and sexual expression means to you.
