My focus is to help people develop healthier relationships and more meaningful, fulfilling connections. Are you feeling frustrated, overwhelmed or misunderstood? Are you finding yourself exhausted or resentful from trying to make sure everyone else is happy, trying not to rock the boat and always putting off your own needs? Are you having the same arguments over and over again and feeling stuck? Feeling lonely or disconnected? If you want to feel better about yourself and safer in your interactions with others, I can help you learn to understand your emotions and improve balance and connection in your relationships. My therapy style is open, warm and collaborative, and I create a space for you to feel truly accepted, grounded and hopeful.
After careful exploration of prominent methodologies for couples counseling, I chose to pursue training in Gottman Method for several reasons. The Gottmans’ extensive research has led them to develop tangible skills that people can learn and begin practicing right away, along with tools to strengthen the foundation of the positive qualities of both partners and the couple, which helps create lasting positive change. My clients have also found that the Gottman communication skills are transferable to other relationships, to help them communicate more effectively with friends, family, colleagues and other relationships. Along with Gottman Method, I also incorporate techniques from attachment theory, The Developmental Model, Relational Life Theory and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
My experience living in and working with military and Foreign Service communities provides me unique insight to help people work through transitional issues. I have extensive experience helping people identify and build on their strengths, which helps them improve their relationships, build skills to cope with future challenges and feel more confident overall.
