About
Hello, my name is Melody Evans. Welcome to my practice, Can’t We Just Get Along Counselling (Melody Evans and Associates). Although the name is unconventional, it reflects a truth about life and human relationships: at some point, we all struggle to get along with someone in our lives. It may be a person we work with, live with, are in love with, or even ourselves. This disruption can profoundly affect people's mental health. I believe in the Gottman method and know that if you have the tools and skills that make relationships work, you can transform your life and your relationship. I help couples connect and communicate to create a successful, loving, committed relationship and improve their well-being. Holding two designations, one as a Clinical Psychologist and the other as a Marriage and Family Therapist, coupled with over 20 years of experience in relationship therapy, gives me the skills to help couples strengthen and heal their relationships. I have a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family therapy from Loma Linda University, and level 3 training from The Gottman Institute in the Gottman Couples Therapy Method. I am also a Trauma/PTSD expert who specializes in EMDR, a form of trauma therapy that stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Through EMDRIA, the EMDR International Association, I am a certified EMDR therapist and approved EMDR consultant.
As a senior therapist and the co-owner of Can’t We Just Get Along Counselling, I enjoy working with provisional psychologists as an approved clinical supervisor for CAP (The College of Alberta Psychologists). People often ask if being a psychologist is a challenging and discouraging job. I say the opposite. It’s an inspiring job that allows me to see humans' resilience and capacity for change. Myself or one of my Gottman-trained team members would be happy to help you improve your life and relationships.
I look forward to speaking with you soon.
