Welcome! My name is Dr. Michelle Vandegriend, or as many clients call me
"Dr. Michelle". I love my job as a registered psychologist, and I have been providing professional counselling services for individuals and couples in private practice for over ten years. I am also a Certified Gottman Therapist and working with couples is an area of focus in my practice.
I hold a Doctoral degree and Masters degree, both specializing in counselling psychology, from the University of Alberta. Throughout my training and career I have provided counselling services across multiple settings, and I have served as a university instructor teaching and supervising graduate students in counselling psychology. In my spare time I have the pleasure of serving as the Editor-in-Chief for the Psychologists' Association of Alberta provincial newsletter - Psymposium. In addition to my education and experience I also have advanced training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) from the world-renowned Dr. David Burns, M.D. and advanced training in Clinical Hypnotherapy.
Seeing individuals and couples take steps toward healing and personal growth for themselves and in their relationships is very rewarding. As an 'easy to talk to' psychologist I deeply understand how therapeutic rapport or 'the right fit' between psychologist and client is a significant factor in change. In my work with clients I believe in a down-to-earth and practical approach providing a non-judgemental, hope-focused environment where clients can focus on building a happier and healthier life.
