I provide a combination of evidence-base and the best in relational therapies to provide individuals, couples, and families the best possible outcomes to what they are seeking help for. Combing compassion and information to help people identify the specific obstacles in their lives that hold them back from being satisfied and content in their lives, I help them decide on a plan of action to effect the change in their life that they desire. My goal is to provide you with the tools you need and teach you how to effectively implement them so can utilize them for life. I also provide christian counseling to those that wish to incorperate christianity into their therapy.
I enjoy working with couples (giving them the tools to improve their communication and achieve conflict resolution), working with people experiencing anxiety, OCD, panic (anxiety) attacks, depression, chronic pain, and pornography addiction. I strive toward educating them on overcoming these difficulties and greatly increasing the quality of their lives & relationships.
I am deeply schooled in the theories of Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend as well as the research and methods of Dr. John Gottman and Dr. Julie Gottman. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and have been in practice since February of 2005. I did my masters level internship with the Meier Clinics (formerly Meier New Life Clinics). I worked for two years in their intensive outpatient day program, where the teachings were based on the works of Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend, while also managing an outpatient caseload. While doing this I was also writing my masters thesis on treating chronic pain in an outpatient counseling setting. I have also spent time working as Correctional Mental Health Counselor. Prior to receiving my bachelors degree, I worked for Seattle Mental Health as a Mental Health Technician doing case management. I also was trained as a counselor for Pregnancy Resource Center (formerly Crisis Pregnancy Center). I, along with Gretchen L. Jones MA, LMHC, founded Crossroads Counseling & Consulting LLC in September of 2008.
I received my masters degree (MA) in Counseling Psychology, with a Multicultural emphasis, from Northwest University in December of 2005. I graduated cum lade with my bachelors degree (BA) in Psychology, while also working toward a second major in biblical studies, from Northwest College in 2003. I am a lifetime member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society. I served as President of the Northwest University Chapter/Graduate Division of Psi Chi while working toward my masters degree. I served as the Vice President (VP) of the Northwest College chapter of Psi Chi while obtaining my bachelors degree.
I help people to identify the specific obstacles in their lives that keep them from being satisfied and content. I then help them decide on a plan of action to effect the change in their life that they desire. I utilize both evidence based therapies [such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and the research and recommended application of Dr. John Gottman] and relationship focused therapies [such as object relations theory (based off the work of Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend) and family-systems theory (based off of the works of Salvador Manuchin and others)].
