Maintaining a healthy relationship requires constant tuning. Most of the time couples adjust through natural change, negotiation and adjusting to the new circumstances. At times, you may feel that problems seem unsolvable or that arguments intensify and the usual coping skills don't work anymore. Engaging in therapy will help resolve long standing issues, improve the emotional connection, and develop an overall more satisfying and adaptable relationship.
I've been a psychologist for more than 20 years and I've worked with a great variety of couples. Starting from a specialization in Couples and Family therapy during my doctorate, continuing with a variety of training in couples therapy over the years, the incorporation of the Gottman method for the past 10 years, and now the final process of becoming certified as a Gottman therapist. My approach to couples and individuals is based on a theory of systems and relationships. In short, our behavior and changes will influence how we interact with others and their behaviors will also change consequently.
I've had the opportunity to teach Family Therapy to graduate students at Nova Southeastern University for many years and I'm the "go to person" when my colleagues have questions about relationships.
I have seen couples therapy work successfully with couples that had lost hope and had struggled for many years. Engaging in therapy is a worthwhile process and I invite you to contact me.
