My style is direct, reality-focused, and comprehensive in addressing the personal and interpersonal facets of your life which help or hinder your success in relationships and living. The therapy that I practice is grounded in sound theory and research about individuals, couples, families and family businesses. I work to make my input stimulating
and definitely not "cookie cutter" advice; it is tailor-made to fit your world, with immediate
value. I am committed to Gottman method Couples Therapy because it delivers tested and
sustainable benefits to couples. As well, I have practiced Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (www.eft.ca)
Cognitive Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy for over 2 decades.
I was pleased to be the first Canadian to be certified in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I am also a Certified Gottman Couples Workshop Leader and the first Canadian Presenter of the two day professional workshop, "Marital Therapy: A Research Based Approach". I am a co-founder of TGIM Group Inc., Greater Vancouver Therapy Inc., and previous Executive Director of Burnaby Counseling Group. I have provided therapy to individuals, couples, families since 1982; and consultation and training to groups and organizations
since 1990. My masters level training in counseling psychology specialized in systemic theory & practice. I specialize in providing executive coaching to leaders in both the corporate & non-profit sectors and to professionals. I believe that The Gottman Institute's research into relationships is highly relevant to corporate and organizational health. With a special interest in assisting family businesses, I am a past member of the Professional Advisory Committee of UBC's Business Families Centre. I count myself fortunate, and I have grown through 35 years of marriage with my wife Drusilla and our life with our three adult children (31, 29 & 25).
