Rhodena Mesadieu Atkins is especially passionate to help individuals overcome a history of sexual trauma, family dysfunction dynamics, and improving relationships. Her therapeutic focus is to help her clients reconstruct a positive sense of self, gain safety, and establish healthy habits to restore their mental and emotional wellness. She integrates Trauma- Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Expressive Arts and Mindfulness to facilitate the process of emotional healing from trauma. She has Gottman Level 2 Training in working with couples with a history of trauma. She incorporates Faith-Based Spiritual practices into the therapeutic process upon request. She also has a focus to work with blended family couples.
Rhodena advocates for the education and increasing awareness of mental health among people of color to engage in culturally appropriate services. She has presented on Sexual Trauma and Clinical Implications, Racial Identity Model, Self Esteem, Effective Parenting, Teen Depression, and ACE's Trauma, and Black Mental Health in the community, conferences, and teen summits.
