About

I choose to work with couples and the transgender community because the work is meaningful and rewarding.
Couples: "The Gottman Method is an approach to couples therapy that includes a thorough assessment of the couple relationship and integrates research-based interventions based on the Sound Relationship House Theory." -Gottman.com Many therapists believe their interventions work because they feel good at the moment. But because they aren't researchers, they don't follow up with clients long-term. They can't say that their interventions resulted in lasting change. I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy because it draws from over 40 years of peer-reviewed and replicated research from over 3,000 real couples. peer-reviewed journal articles: https://www.johngottman.net/research/ The Gottman's have teased apart what creates lasting change in relationships from what feels good in the moment. The interventions' effectiveness in increasing friendship, conflict management, and creation of shared meaning is reliable. Relapse prevention is also addressed. These interventions work! So far, I have completed Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I'm currently chasing my goal of becoming certified in the Gottman Method. Gender Affirming Care: As a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), an allied cisgender clinician, & a pledge signer for the Gender Affirming Letter Access Project (GALAP), I offer transgender folks in California a free assessment & letter service for gender-affirming care on Wednesday evenings.
