I am the Director of "ABC Psychology", a welcoming, client-centred Psychology and Hypnotherapy Practice conveniently located a few kilometres south of central Adelaide in the suburb of Goodwood, at 62 King William Road. I draw upon my life experience to provide a warm, person-centred, non-judgmental approach to help people work through a wide range of personal and relationship problems.
I am well qualified to help people learn new skills and overcome obstacles as I've had twenty years as a primary school teacher and 10 as a practising psychologist. I know first-hand the pain associated with relationship breakdown and can empathise with how difficult it is to manage intense emotions of disappointment and grief. I am incurably optimistic about a couple's ability to change and rejuvenate their lives.
I am thrilled to be only the second Australian psychologist to have successfully completed the long process of supervision and video review necessary to become a Certified Gottman Therapist. It was a long trip across the Pacific Ocean but I was determined to get the best possible training from the experts on the field. That dedication has paid off with improved outcomes for my clients.
It is incredibly rewarding to help couples reconnect with the reasons they got together in the first place. Nothing is more satisying to me than hearing clients say that I helped them save their marriage. This happens regularly now that I have the library of Gottman interventions at my finger tips.
My effectiveness as a Gottman-trained therapist is apparent from the number of personal referrals I've received from clients who have established secure and happy relationships and send their friends, family members and acquaintances to me.
I treat everyone who walks through the door as a special individual, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender identity or race. I focus on listening to your concerns and learning how to connect with what is important to you.
If a person has particular religious beliefs which are relevant, I am sensitive to those guiding religious principles but religion would not become a topic unless someone indicated to me that it was especially important to him or to her.
My approach is to find what works for you.
I am also interested in helping people who live farther from town who may find it difficult to find an effective local therapist . I offer intensive marathon sessions over weekends. Adelaide is a great city to visit and it offers many beautiful sights and recreational opportunities both in the city and in the surrounding area. In addition, there are many different kinds of restaurants and shops in the immediate neighborhood which offer a respite from dealing with the emotional challenges of therapy. Follow up visual consultations are available off premises using Skype or Google Plus communication services.
