As a licensed psychologist, I provide psychological services for adults and couples. In my 20 years of clinical practice, I have helped people with a wide range of life problems, including depression and anxiety, relationship and family concerns, grief and loss, trauma and abuse, anger and impulse control problems, chronic and terminal illness, religious and spiritual issues, gender and identity concerns, low self-esteem, and coping with life transitions.
My clinical specialty is couples therapy. I am passionate about helping people develop rewarding and meaningful relationships. I work to help couples learn how manage conflict in a constructive and compassionate manner, deepen their friendship and intimacy, and create a life of shared meaning together. All of us desire healthy and fulfilling relationships, and I am honored to work with straight and gay couples.
My clients describe my clinical style as authentic, compassionate, and collaborative. My highest priority is to create a safe, welcoming, and culturally-affirming space to help you reach your treatment goals. I use evidence-based psychological therapies that include cognitive-behavioral interventions, mindfulness and acceptance practices, and relational and interpersonal approaches. We work together to develop a personalized treatment plan that meets your needs and results in progress.
I received my PhD in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University. I completed a Predoctoral Residency in Clinical Psychology at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Behavioral Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and a Senior Fellowship in Behavioral Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical School. Additionally, I have completed advanced clinical training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mind/Body Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
