Ros practices Gottman Couples Counselling (Level 3 Training). She structures sessions to help the couple develop more effective communication, so each partner gets their needs met and the relationship provides a safe refuge to both. Together, we will explore the deeper meanings of concerns held by each partner. If feelings overwhelm, we will work with that. Angry, sad, fearful, hopeless, exhausted? All feelings are welcome here. Come as you are.
Ros uses Gottman printed exercises, apply current brain research, and various materials and somatic ‘noticing’ to enhance communication.
Ros is particularly sensitive to how culture, religion, raising children, and experiencing loss may affect family and couple dynamics. Ros offers counselling for people with disabilities, for those who support loved ones with dementia, for those who suffer with chronic or acute illness (cancer in particular), or who have experienced trauma (EMDR trained). Ros incorporates Mindfulness Based Art Therapy as needed also.
Sessions are 1 ½ hours minimum; frequency of sessions depends upon couple needs, availability, and types of concern.
I work from the warm setting of my South Vancouver home office. Visitor and street parking plentiful, public transit is good.
