About
Dr. Scott Wolfe is a Clinical Psychologist and Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist, Trainer, Consultant and Workshop Leader who recently relocated his practice to Henderson, Nevada from Columbia, Maryland. He has maintained his Maryland Psychology license and so he continues to see couples and individuals in therapy who reside in Maryland via HIPAA compliant video phone sessions. For more information and details about this option please call him or email him.
Dr. Wolfe has specialized in individual and couples counseling for over twenty-five years and has helped hundreds of couples and individuals struggle through their darkest times to find their full potential.
In addition to being personally trained in couple therapy by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, Dr. Wolfe has trained with leading family therapists at his predoctoral internship with The University of California, San Francisco and at the California School of Professional Psychology-Fresno (CSPP-F) (APA Fully Approved) where he completed his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. His dissertation research focused on predicting relationship satisfaction and how well engaged couples would transition into their first year of marriage and beyond. It was at this time in the early 1980's that he first began reading Dr. Gottman's cutting edge research on relationships. Later Dr. Wolfe was on the Adjunct Faculty of the California School of Professional Psychology-Fresno and taught Marital and Family Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on the graduate level.
Dr. Wolfe has also completed Advanced Training and an Advanced Externship in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) with Dr. Susan Johnson and senior EFT trainers at the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. Dr. Wolfe integrates EFT and Attachment Theory into his work with both individuals and couples. He also has been a clinical supervisor for Loyola College in Baltimore and has supervised Clinical Psychology doctoral students in internships and externships for over 16 years. Finally he was a research and clinical consultant for The Johns Hopkins University research program "Keeping Families Strong."
In addition to his expertise in individual cognitive behavioral therapy with adults Dr. Wolfe's specialized areas of expertise in couple therapy include marital enrichment, premarital assessment and counseling, parenting, couple communication and intimacy, affair recovery, infertility distress, sexual issues including frequency and desire, same sex couples, and step-family parenting.
Dr. Wolfe provides intensive private Gottman weekend couples retreats and also offers marathon couples coaching sessions (intensive sessions of two or more hours) for couples in crisis, couples on the brink, or for couples coming from out of town where there is no Certified Gottman Couples Therapist available.
