About

My training in couples therapy started in 1998 at the Jewish Board of Families and Children's Services, in partnership with Smith College School for Social Work. My practice in New York State has been intersectional across race, ethnic, class, religious, spiritual, gender, age, and sexual orientation lines. Over the years, I have worked with couples representing the full spectrum of diversity in relationship status. I am experienced in navigating traditional and non-traditional relationships. I use a culturally attuned trauma and grief-informed approach to the work and aim to create a balance point in the process. I also consider relationships from a life course perspective, understanding that many of the challenges that couples experience are often influenced by the life stage that they have entered. My approach to couples work is highly integrative and informed by neuroscience.and psychobiology.
I am certified in clinical hypnotherapy, which enhances calming and soothing skills during therapy. In addition, I am a Part 146 Certified Mediator for the New York Unified Court System, specializing in advanced family and divorce mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). I am also on the court's expert witness panel since 2019. My legal training from Rutgers Law School and my relationship with the family court also inform me as a mediator. The Gottman Method and the Transformative Mediation Model can complement one another, often leading to clarity, deeper understanding, and overall dispute resolution. In working towards resolving conflict and life-affirming constructive dialogue, couples can find that there does not have to be a zero-sum outcome. At this time, I only provide virtual sessions through HIPAA-compliant telemedicine. You must reside in New York State to receive services. I am open to training opportunities and speaking engagements nationally.
