About
Dr. Iyican completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Houston, where her research focused on interventions for distressed couples. She received extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, trauma, stress, and depression.
After earning her Ph.D., Dr. Iyican completed an APA-accredited postdoctoral fellowship at the UC San Diego/VA San Diego Healthcare System, specializing in couple therapy within the Family Mental Health Program. She later served as a staff psychologist and Assistant Clinical Professor at UC San Diego before transitioning into full-time private practice.
Dr. Iyican's approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and evidence-based. She has advanced Gottman Method Couple Therapy training (Level 3), and is certified in Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT). She also holds the Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C), reflecting her expertise in supporting mothers and fathers during pregnancy, postpartum, and the transition to parenthood.
In addition to working with couples, Dr. Iyican provides individual therapy for adults navigating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. She integrates research-based approaches with a warm and validating therapeutic style to help clients find insight, balance, and connection in their relationships and daily lives.
